Project Description

Jaisalmer-Barmer section of NH-15 lies in extreme western part of state nearby Indo-Pak border. The project road passes through a vast sandy, plain dotted with bold rocky area beyond Barmer. NH-15 enters in Gujarat and goes up to Kandla port. NH-15 is an important strategic link connecting Pak border to the country’s capital. The present status of the road is two lane carriageways with earthen shoulders. Due to increase in heavy vehicular traffic on this road from Kandla port, it is necessitated to provide an adequate and reliable transport infrastructure, therefore it is proposed for widening in some stretches and strengthening the existing surface and o provide paved shoulders on either sides of road. The construction work has been allotted to M/s GR infrastructures through Engineering procurement contract (EPC). Right of way for construction is almost available except at the places of improvement of major junction points. Due to scanty rainfall in area, the work can progress throughout the year. Sources of road construction material are available and Rajasthan canal is main source of waterfor construction purpose.(Length- 131.414 km. – 2/4 lane with paved shoulder)
